Take Another Little Piece of My Heart

The Sweet Smell of Success

Grief: the traditional gesture of upraised arms

Sorrow and grief. The Tree raises its arms lamenting the loss of a limb. A weakness in its structure or illness. So in the fullness of its glory, the rich colors of fall, signal the transition to winter and the coldness of death. So too is my dog Aesop moving into that next stage. Melanoma, blackness and nothingness. May his life be spared for one more year at least.

The Fall: when the leaf turned red

Knowledge seized from the Tree of Knowledge engendered self awareness and then shame. Eve's first garment was a leaf to hide her genitals and her breasts, her nakedness; then she discovered that her body's equilibrium had gone awry and she now bled monthly. Her leaf turned red, impregnated by blood; Eve was cursed, and her female descendants still bear this "curse." The menstruating girl is isolated, and in some cultures becomes untouchable and most be cleansed.

of course this is nonsense, but it is still a global "matter of fact; women are the scapegoat for the troubles that have befallen humanity. amazing.

The Dangerous Leaf

Chaos: fashioned by nature

perceptually chaotic to man, but the vines discovered strategies to survive ( see Aristotle, nature does nothing without a purpose; if read "soft" that is not teleologically, then this notion seems to be demonstrated by the order/disorder of the plants, each vyinging for space, for light, for air.

Truth: its all relative in Tenafly

According to Lieutenant K J of the Tenafly Police department there are three truths: a asserts a, b asserts b and then there is "the truth," indisputable factual evidence. Is Rashomon part of police curriculum? Dubious, no? The assertions by the lieutenant were indisputable. If this were the case, then Holocaust deniers would be credible. Just another opinion or percpetion. "The truth" could not be verified by those who died in the murderous campaign of the Nazis. Truth? It lies somewhere between a and b, but don't let that worry you. What rot!
