The Lost Masterpiece: a conundrum

A weathered frame is suspended on a brick wall. The wall is located on a building situated on 66th Street, between 66th and 65th Street, between Fifth Avenue and Madison Avenue. The narrative as to how this came to be is lost. A Magritte, almost; a clever inventor or merely a person who could not throw away the frame? Or perhaps the imagery was too charged or undercharged. A curiosity that does not offer any clues. It is, but its story cannot be told. Can it be compared to an unidentified body?
